Our Values
Your learning is our business
It isn’t enough to ‘instruct’: tell once, watch once.
Our aim is your long-term learning for
a lifetime of scuba enjoyment and safety.
The best scuba instruction possible
Based upon PADI standards, enhanced through the principles of Human Factors in Diving, and drawing upon current methods in education.
Ocean dive days in different locations, chosen by conditions, to expose students to two of Adelaide’s popular dive sites.
This includes going to world-renowned Rapid Bay, hopefully spotting a Leafy Sea Dragon.
We are here to dive
The best learning is by doing. We finish a dive when the air consumption tells us to, not a clock.
With longer dive times, elements of courses such as Peak Performance Buoyancy or Underwater Navigation are able to be included in our OWD course, rather than as part of an upsell into further education.
For example, a recent dive course had 3 hours and 45 minutes of ocean dive time. One of the students’ partners had less than 2 hours on her Open Water course – HALF the time: half the experience, half the learning.
A fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work
In a world where tennis or golf coaches earn $75 or more an hour for watching you hit balls, the scuba industry as a whole massively underpays its instructors, who hold their students’ lives in their hands as they introduce them to breathing underwater.
Our instructors are paid $250 per day – only 3.5 hours’ work for a tennis coach, but double what some Adelaide dive pros earn!
We trust you want your instructor to be paid fairly.

“Highly recommend Scuba Teacher.
Students are taught to high standards by a knowledgeable and patient instructor.
You can’t go wrong with Scuba Teacher.”
